Ward wins monthly golf society outing

THE Isle of Axholme Golf Society had their monthly outing at Elsham Golf Course in Brigg recently.

The weather was very good and the course was in excellent condition resulting in some good scores.

Eighteen holes were played in a combined individual and team Stableford competition and after play the prizes were presented by the captain and secretary Tom Sanders.

First place with a score of 34 points went to Brian Ward, second place to Robert Andrew and third place to Andrew Cronshaw.

The longest drive on hole 18 was won by Derek Johnson.

Nearest the pin competition on hole 12 was won by Andrew Cronshaw and that on hole 14 by Ian Hirst.

The best team was Dave Slack, Ian Hirst, Brian Ward and Andrew Cronshaw with an average score of 30.50 points.

The next society outing will be captain's day at Ashby Decoy Golf Club on Wednesday July 15 at 10am when all members and their guests are welcome.

Non-society members are welcome by arrangement with Tom Sanders on 01724 712089, and annual membership is open to all on payment of 10 which will cover all 2009.

The date for the 2009 BBC Children in Need Appeal Open Pairs competition at Grange Park Golf Course, Messingham is Sunday September 27, first tee time will be 9.30am. Entry forms will be obtainable at most local golf establishments.
