U15s put in tremendous effort to clinch victory

Thornensians U15s 22 Scarborough 0

HAVING only played once after Christmas it was great to see a tremendous effort again being put in.

Tries were scored in the first half by Jay Corbett (1) and Daniel Barwell (1), of which Mathew Green converted one, with both tries being scored through the match dominating forwards.

With Connor Farell putting everything into the game and the rest of the team backing him up, some excellent teamwork led to the first try of the second half by Isaac Jones, then in the dying minutes of the game a final try was scored in the forwards by James Farmer. Thornensians running out 22-0 winners.

Players of the match wereConnor Farrell and Matty Green.

Thank you too Geoff McGarry of The Windmill who presented team captain Evan Johnson with the replacements track suits.

With the end of the first half quickly approaching Scunthorpe scored against a unsuspecting Thorne side but only to have Thornensians immediately strike back through John Hardy following good power play by the forwards, Matty Green converted to give Thornensians a 7-5 lead.

ith moral boosted throughout the team, the only try of the second half quickly approached, in the form of John Hardy again, with the aid of the forwards.

After 20 minutes of defensive play and succeeding in keeping Scunthorpe at bay Thornensians ran out the winners.
