Thornensians have revenge on last season's rivals

Roundhegians U15s 0 Thornensians U15s 15

THORNENSIANS U15s travelled to Leeds to take on Roundhegians and overturn a defeat suffered at their hands last season in the quarter-final of the Yorkshire plate.

The match started with Thorne's forwards starting where they left off in the last match, dominating the early play, lead by man of the match Rob Raper. Errors meant no early score for Thorne, and Roundhegians looked like scoring first, except for some last ditch tackling by wingers Isaac Jones, Luke Kerrison and full back Rob Phillips. The deadlock was finally broken just before half-time when following a well worked move Luke went over for a try in the corner.

The second half was dominated by Thorne and they kept Roundhegians pinned in their own 22. Good play by the forwards resulted in a try for Jay Corbett. A final opportunist try was scored by Callum Storr following good defensive work resulting in a 15-0 win to Thorne.

Thorne have now won six of the last seven outings.
