Take the plunge for charity big splash
SWIMMERS in Thorne are being asked to go to great lengths to help a national charity.
The NSPCC is calling for local people to get involved in The Big Splash swimming challenge which was launched this week.
For those whose New Year's resolution is to get fit then why not get down to the local swimming pool this February and take part in a sponsored swim for the NSPCC's Child's Voice Appeal.
Paula Guanaria, head of local fundraising for the NSPCC in the North said: "The Big Splash is simple. Do it in your own time, at your local pool and swim a distance that suits you. Whether that's ten lengths or 100, all you have to do is make a splash to help us raise cash."
Registration is free and open to everyone at any swimming pool.
Simply set a date of your choice in February and decide how many lengths you're going to swim. Register with the NSPCC at northappeals@nspcc.org.uk or 0113 22 99 313 and they will send out a sponsor forms.
Alternatively, go to www.justgiving.com/nspcc and set up a Big Splash page.
Paula added: "Money raised for The Big Splash will help the NSPCC's Child's Voice Appeal to make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children.
"Your support will enable us to expand the NSPCC's vital helplines - ChildLine for children and young people and the NSPCC Helpline for adults who are concerned about a child."
The Big Splash aims to raise more than 5,000.
