Sprotbrough CC U9's celebrate as they become cup winners.

HOWZAT for a season!

Sprotbrough Cricket Club under nines were beaten only once during a memorable campaign which saw them get their hands on the Doncaster Junior League Cup.

Team manager Lyndon Wilson said: “We played really well all season, culminating in winning the cup final.

“We played Goole Town, a much bigger club than us, and won by 19 runs.

“In addition we also had a fantastic year in the league, only losing once all season.”

Sprotbrough’s team for the cup final was Ben Usher (captain), Ben Wilson, Luca O’Grady, Tom Irving, Eddie Cassidy, Adam Goode, Tom Elden and Will Rudkin.

In the earlier rounds they knocked out Tickhill, Fishlake A and Bentley A.

Sprotbrough also finished third in the league as their title bid was thwarted by the weather.
