Rovers to host York City in Capital One Cup

DONCASTER Rovers will start the new season with a local derby against York City in the Capital One Cup.

The first round of the rebranded League Cup competition this year provides the curtain raiser to the new domestic season.

And Doncaster could not have wished for a more attractive opening to the new campaign, hosting near neighbours York.

The Minstermen were promoted back to the Football League last month after they beat Luton Town in the Blue Square Premier play-off final at Wembley.

Rovers last met City in a Division Three clash in 2004, running out 3-1 winners at Belle Vue.

However it was York who progressed when the sides last met in the League Cup, winning 3-1 on aggregate back in 1996.

First round ties will be played during the week commencing August 13, with the Football League programme starting on Saturday, August 18.
