Leyton Orient v Doncaster Rovers: MATCH CENTRE
DEAN Saunders will check on the fitness of Martin Woods and Billy Paynter before naming his side for today’s visit to the Matchroom Stadium.
Woods was forced off at Norwich with a twisted ankle on Wednesday night, while Paynter is continuing his recovery from a thigh injury.
Saunders made five changes at Carrow Road but is likely to recall rested quintet Rob Jones, Paul Keegan, Dave Syers, Kyle Bennett and Chris Brown to his starting line-up.
Skipper Jones is one yellow card away from a one-match suspension.
Rovers go into the game unbeaten in three in League One, while Orient are hoping to extend a four-game unbeaten run.
Former QPR midfielder Martin Rowlands signed an extended contract with the Londoners this week.
AT THE TRAINING GROUND
Dean Saunders: “Woodsy twisted his ankle and that’s why I brought him off early in the second half.
“There was no point risking making it worse when there were fit players on the bench looking to get on.
“I don’t think it’s too bad but we’ll see how he is.
“Hopefully Billy will be okay to play some part but if he isn’t quite ready we aren’t going to rush him back.
“We have to give his thigh injury time to heal if it’s not right.”
Probable Rovers line-up (4-5-1): Woods; Quinn, McCombe, Jones, Spurr; Cotterill, Keegan, Woods, Syers, Bennett; Brown.
KEY MAN
Dave Syers has had a quiet couple of games - and missed a glorious late chance to force Wednesday’s tie at Norwich into extra time after replacing an injured Martin Woods.
He needs to rediscover his form and get closer to Chris Brown who was isolated in attack against Sheffield United and Stevenage.
OPPOSITION VIEW
Russell Slade: “The games don’t get any easier with Doncaster next but we look forward to that because we go into the game at least with a little bit of momentum.
“I’m delighted that Martin has agreed to extend his contract with the club,” he added on Rowlands.
“He is a good professional and an excellent player to have around the dressing room.
“He has brought experience and know how to the team over the last month and it’s great that he will continue to do that.”
