DONCASTER hope to ignite their Conference North season on Saturday when they face a basement battle at Preston.

Both sides have endured a miserable start to the new outdoor season, losing four out of four.

But something will have to give when the Town Field men travel across the Pennines this weekend to face a Preston outfit currently bottom of the table on goal difference.

Richard Thomas’s side suffered a fourth straight league defeat on Sunday when they were beaten 4-1 at Bowdon.

Jonathon Powell’s late goal proved to be merely a consolation effort.

There was double disappointment for Doncaster’s ladies at the weekend too.

Saturday’s 4-0 home defeat to University of Durham was followed 24 hours later by a 3-1 loss to Didsbury Northern in the National Cup.
