THE Keepmoat Stadium will host the 2013 FA Women’s Cup Final, the Football Association has announced.
Doncaster Belles were today drawn at home to Bristol Academy in the fifth round of the competition.
And now John Buckley’s side will have extra incentive to reach the final, which will be played in Doncaster to mark the 20th anniversary of the FA taking over the running of the women’s game.
Doncaster Belles won the first Women’s Cup under The FA’s auspices in 1993-94.
Sue Hough, chairman of The FA Women’s committee said: “We are delighted that the Keepmoat Stadium, the home of Doncaster Rovers Belles, is hosting this season’s final.
“The Belles have such a rich history in the women’s game and it is fitting that the cup winners of 20 years ago should stage the final in this landmark year for the FA.”
Birmingham City are the current FA Cup holders after beating Chelsea on penalties last year.
This year’s final, to be played on Sunday, May 26, will be broadcast live on BBC2.
