Charity bid swings into action
FISHLAKE resident Mark Rushton will be completing the Macmillan Longest Day Golf Challenge on July 16 in which he has to complete four rounds of golf in one day.
Mark completed this challenge last year with five work colleagues, calling themselves the Kerry Hackers 1 and 2, raising 1000.
They would like to beat this figure this year, setting themselves a target of 1,500 and to help them do this they have set up a donation web page on: http://original.justgiving.com/kerryhackers
Mark's partner, Jane Knight told the Gazette: "Having lost my mum to cancer over three years ago, I am extremely proud of him for stepping up to make a difference in so many other people's lives, this disease affects young and old, and having the support of Macmillan Cancer Support is a tremendous help. "Macmillan Cancer Support rely on supporters for 99 per cent of their income.
"I know how hard it was last year, taking over three hours per round of golf, 14 hours overall, it's not as easy as it sounds, and I am even more proud that the Kerry Hackers have swung into action again this year."
