Bristol 39 Doncaster Knights 10
FINAL CONTRIBUTION: Fred Burdon scored a try on his last appearance for the Knights.
FRED Burdon scored in his last Knights appearance but could not stop them slipping to a tenth straight defeat at Bristol in their final match of the campaign.
It took Bristol just three minutes to break Doncaster’s resolve with inside centre Luke Eves finding a way through to score the opening try.
Matthew Jones, playing at stand-off, converted and also kicked two penalties before the half hour mark to make the score 13-0.
Dougie Flockhart provided some hope for the visitors shortly after when he hit back with a penalty to pull three points back.
After 35 minutes, William Helu added a second try for Bristol with Jones converting once again.
The Knights fought back again with Burdon going over and Flockhart converting.
A penalty try was awarded to the home side moments later and the half time score was 27-10.
Fautua Otto added to Bristol’s lead on 54 minutes but the Knights managed to stop further score until deep into added time when Matthew Jones went over before converting the score himself.
