Bradford Bulls 72 Doncaster 6
THE Dons took a first minute lead but that was as good as it got as they were crushed by Super League giants Bradford Bulls in the Challenge Cup at Odsal.
It could not have started better for Tony Miller’s side as Danny Addy fumbled Kieran Hyde’s kick from the start.
The Dons took possession deep in the opposition half and Russ Spiers powered over to open the scoring after just 48 seconds with Hyde converting to gibve his side a 6-0 lead, much to the delight of the sizeable vocal travelling support.
But that was the extent of any hint of upset as the Bulls charged back ruthlessly.
Miller was honest about the difference in class – the hosts being too big, strong, fast and skilful for his men.
The Dons – without star man Paul Cooke – never gave up but every mistake they made was punished by the hosts.
Elliott Whitehead touched down on four minutes with Addy slotting over the first of his ten goals to level up.
And after Ben Jeffries put Bradford in front on eight minutes, they never looked back.
Matt Diskin and Shaun Ainscough both went over twice with John Bateman also touching down to give the Bulls a 38-6 lead at the break.
Whitehead and Ainscough completed their hat tricks in the second half with Keith Lulia grabbing a brace and Craig Kopczak rounding things off.
Dons: Butterfield, Colton, Spurr, Waterman, Hodson, Edwards, Hyde, Castle, Ely, Spiers, Lawton, Kelly, Robinson.
Subs: Welsh, Bibb, Kesik, Sanderson.
Attendance: 3,210
