EX-SHAKER Kyle Bennett has promised there’s more to come from Doncaster Rovers as he prepares to face his former club Bury this evening.

The 21-year-old winger, who joined Doncaster from Bury last summer, will face some familiar faces at the Keepmoat Stadium tonight with a spring in his step.

Bennett scored a sublime curling effort to cap Rovers’ 3-0 opening day win at Walsall - but says his team will only get better as the season goes on.

He said: “We’re just taking it a game at a time but there’s a good blend of youth and experience in the squad.

“We’ve got every base covered.

“Saturday was our first game together as a team - there’s a lot more to come from this group of players.

“I didn’t touch the ball as much as I’d like but I did a job for the team by filling in holes and helping to stop them play.

“But as a team the display at Walsall was probably the best performance we’ve had since I’ve been here.

“We’re a bit more physical this season,” he added.

“The plan is to wait for teams to come onto us, nick the ball and then we’ve got some great players up front like David Cotterill, Chris Brown, Billy Paynter and Robbie Blake to take the chances at the other end.

“The togetherness is better than it’s ever been. Everything is spot on at the moment.”
