DONCASTER Mustangs want to recruit new junior and senior players at their annual Rookie Day on Sunday.

Newly-appointed head coach Steve Rains will run the rule over his squad for the first time since taking the job this summer.

And young players will also get the chance to catch the eye of the former Great Britain youth coach, with the former Balby Carr Mustangs juniors now fully integrated into the Mustangs family.

Trials will be held for the Mustangs under 16s, under 19s and senior sides at Doncaster School for the Deaf from 10am-2pm.

The club are hoping to make the Leger Way school their training base for the forthcoming season, while the Keepmoat Stadium’s athletics arena will remain as their home ground.

Trialists are advised to bring indoor and outdoor footwear on Sunday. The session will cost £3 per player.

Mustangs enjoyed one of their best campaigns in recent years last season, reaching the BAFANL Premier Division play-offs.

Rains has coached representative teams at youth and senior level for England and Great Britain. He also guided Farnham Knights to a host of titles between 1997 and 2007.
