CHRIS Hallam is Doncaster Knights’ new captain.
The 27-year-old scrum half takes over from on field skipper Steve Lawrie and club captain Steve Boden after boss Brett Davey chose to abolish the dual captaincy roles.
Hallam, who joined Knights from Rotherham four years ago, should be fit for the big kick-off after struggling for most of last season with a shoulder injury.
He said: “I’m over the moon to have been given the captaincy and it’s a huge honour for me and my family.
“It’s not something I have ever envisaged really and it was a shock when I first found out - but now I feel I’m right for the job.”
