Cross Keys Wroot needed extra time to beat East Markham 6-3 in the Presidents Cup.

High-flying Wroot, who are competing in a number of competitions, struggled to field a full-strength squad however showed character to take the game to extra time after being 3-1 down with 10 minutes to spare.

Extra-time proved fruitful for Cross Keys who took the game to East Markham, a league above their counterparts, firing home three further goals for 6-3.

Matt Shaw netted four of Wroot’s goals, with Jimmy Walker scoring a brace.

Mark Lees received the man of the match award and special mention was paid to player manager Matt Wiggins who was labelled as ‘sensational’ in midfield by his team-mates.

This weekend sees Wroot face Premier League side Vinne Inn Athletic in the semi-finals of the Trinity Trophy.
