James was forced off in the win over Bolton Wanderers a fortnight ago after a clash with Josh Emmanuel left him with a large wound on his leg.
While he has had stitches removed, he is not yet ready to resume training.

Hide Ad“Reece is responding really well,” Rovers boss Darren Moore said.
“It’s two weeks since the incident and in terms of where he is at now, he’s responded quite well.
“I think he’s had his stitches removed and it’s just got to settle down.
“It’s just now how quickly he can settle down, how quickly he can apply his weight through it and how quickly he can get up to speed.

Hide Ad“It’s just the timescale for it to heal and knit together then him getting back out there.
“Speaking to the medical department, they’re happy that he’s responding very well and making really good progress.
“It’s just about it healing then him putting some weight through it before getting some football specific work.”
