Stainforth head for title

Stainforth Juniors under 11s are quickly emerging as the stand-out team in the Doncaster & District Junior Sunday League.

They started their Division Two campaign at a rate of knotts by winning their first eight games, scoring 61 goals and conceding just one in the process!

The youngsters have also coasted past their rivals to set up semi-final ties in both the League Cup and Goole & Thorne Cup.

And coach Neil Oliver wasted no time explaining the team’s flying first half of the season.

He said: “There’s no secret - but our lads are just too fast for the other teams at this level!

“When we first started out at the beginning of last year we were struggling for players - but everything’s come together this season.

“The lads are all up for the challenge of getting promotion and they all help each other out on the field.

“We’ve still got Rossington to play who haven’t lost a game but we’ve just got to keep on playing like we have been.

“The league has told us there’s a chance of being promoted straight to the Premier League so that’s an extra incentive for us.”
