NEIL Sullivan is ready to fight for the number one jersey after agreeing a one-year contract extension at Rovers.

The 41-year-old former Scotland international is expected to start the season as second choice behind rookie keeper Gary Woods.

He ended a summer of speculation about Doncaster’s goalkeeping situation by signing a one-year deal on Tuesday.

Sullivan, who joined Rovers from Leeds United in 2007, made 34 appearances last season but struggled with a shin injury during the latter stages of the campaign - and was replaced by 20-year-old Woods.

* Rovers are considering offering a contract to Algerian defender Rachid Bouhenna.

The 19-year-old, released by French Ligue 2 side Sedan, has been training with the club this week.

Cypriot forward Marinos Andreou, who was at Middlesbrough last season, is also among the several trialists currently trying to win a deal at the Keepmoat.
