IT was a game of ‘guess who’ as Doncaster Rovers returned to training this week with several unnamed trialists on show.

Rovers media team was unable to identify some of the men training with them but that did not prevent speculation running rife on fans’ websites.

Supporters were able to see photographs on the club’s own website and were only too eager to put names to the faces.

Definitely training were Queens Park Rangers striker Rowan Vine and Leeds United centre back Richard Naylor, who is still talking to the club about a transfer after the deal stalled last week.

Also dotted among the familiar faces were thought to be Plymouth central midfielder Luke Summerfield, out of contract Barnsley man Martin Devaney and former Aston Villa youth skipper Ellis Deeney.

Others reckoned by fans to be among the trialists were former Scotland Under 21 midfielder Kevin McDonald and Preston centre back Neal Trotman but none of them were confirmed by the club.

* Rovers’ home game against Leeds United is to be televised live on Sky TV and has been switched from Saturday to Friday, October 14 with an 8pm kick off.
