Bawtry Town netted four to progress into the third round of the Nottinghamshire FA Intermediate Cup.

But the Doncaster side had to come from behind early on when a fine shot from opponents Radford evaded Gary Hudson for the lead.

Moments later Town levelled the tie when Jermaine Green scampered away down the left, turned sharply on to his right and unleashed a cross which eluded the ‘keeper and nestled into the net.

The next 10 minutes saw both sides battling hard and it was Bawtry who went on the ascendancy when man of the match Sean Thornton crashed in an effort from 12 yards following good work from Steffan Cairns and Sam Weston.

Bawtry started the second half as they finished the first and went 3-1 ahead when Green fed Cairns to strike past the goalkeeper’s left.

Town were resolute in defence to combat any rare Radford advance before they put the game beyond doubt in the 70th minute with a fine team goal finished off by Weston.
