Seven second half goals saw Doncaster Belles’ u15s take the points against Barnsley in a match between the top two from the last few seasons, writes Nigel Watson.
Belles gave a mis-firing first half performance with Phoebe Sneddon breaking up the Barnsley attacks and trying to get the Donny team on the front foot.
The Barnsley keeper saved well when the Donny attackers got through on a couple of occasions.
The goals did come at regular intervals in the second period as the new-look Barnsley team tired.
Jess Hassell (2), Kelsey Douglas (2), Phoebe Sneddon and two final stunning goals from Chloe Dean who headed a corner home from the penalty spot and then Kirsty Nelthorpe who fired in from the corner of the penalty area.
Phoebe Sneddon was awarded ‘Lass of the Grass’.
The u15s are hoping to continue their top of the table stance when they next face Handsworth at home in the Sheffield & Hallamshire Girls County League’s Division One on Saturday.
Kick-off is 11am at Balby Carr School in Weston Road.
