Bawtry Town’s Carl Jacks netted twice and Takrem Shah stole his third of the season, however, the Doncaster outfit were disappointed with their performance in the 3-1 win at Boynton Sports.

The writing was on the wall for a major Town upset within the first minute of the game as Alex Hickey, who returned for his first game of the season, fed in Carl Jacks who fired in a low shot to the goalkeeper’s near post.

Despite going a goal to the good, the remainder of the half was a drab affair as neither side showed conviction in the final third.

The welcomed half time break saw Town benefit and settle into the second 45 more as they hassled Boyton in all areas.

Tom Denton and Leigh Wells were also on hand to make sure they mopped up any form of Boynton attack.

Moments before Hickey’s substitution in the 65th minute, he had a hand in Town’s second as he crafted a wide ball to Jacks in space.

Jacks burst past his marker and unselfishly squared the ball to Shah who took a touch before slotting in for 2-0.

Town made it 3-0 with arguably the move of the game.

Passing from Chambers, Picton and Harper from midfield to the right saw Jacks again beat the offside trap and surge into the box. He sold the ‘keeper a great dummy and sidefooted the ball home.

Boynton scored a consolation goal in the latter stages of the game but Bawtry never looked like letting their lead slip despite admitting their disappointment at the overall display.
