Paul Dickov has urged his squad to keep their feet on the ground following the signing of Billy Sharp.
The Rovers boss is keen to avoid complacency and the expectation a repeat of last week’s 3-0 win over Wigan will follow.
And he insists only hard work will see Rovers match the terrific performance, not simply the widely welcomed return of a club legend.
“With the excitement of everyone for Billy coming in, we just have to make sure we keep our feet on the ground,” Dickov said. “We need to work as hard as we can to get the performances we know we can produce.
“Billy signing gives us a real buzz. It helps that everyone from the cleaners up to the board and of course the fans love him.
“But with 20 games to go we know that we’ve got a squad that is more than capable of getting us out of the bottom three and getting points on the board really quickly.
“We just need to make sure we go about things the right way like we did last week.”
While keen to manage expectations, Dickov admits there is a growing buzz surrounding the squad following the business of the transfer window.
He said: “I felt last week in training the squad were glavanised after the intent we showed in keeping Richie Wellens, adding the experience of Meite and Tamas and then the injured players coming back.
“There was a buzz around the place.
“The result and performance against Wigan didn’t surprise me because I saw it coming.”
