They might be playing League One’s form team but Rovers can afford to relax at Preston North End tonight.

That is the verdict of boss Paul Dickov who says the weekend win over Colchester United has taken the pressure of his side.

“A lot of people will be expecting Preston to win tonight,” Dickov said.

“What the win on Saturday does it lets us go there and relax a bit more.

“When we’ve done that this season we’ve been at our best.

“We’re in a position where we can go and take the game to them.”

Preston have won their last five league games, putting them in genuine contention for automatic promotion.

And Dickov believes the clash will give a good indication of how strong Rovers’ own promotion push is.

He said: “I’m really looking forward to going there because it’s a big test of exactly where we are at the moment.

“Simon Grayson has recruited really well with players that know how to get out of this division and they’re flying right now.

“We’ve got a fairly young squad in terms of experience and promotion experience.

“It’s a challenge I want the players to rise to tonight and justify to everyone else why I keep saying that we’re a good team.”
