Paul Dickov has admitted that his side have missed suspended striker Billy Sharp.

The on-loan Southampton marksman has had to watch Rovers pick up just a point during his absence following his red card in the Brighton defeat last month.

And with just two goals scored in their last three Championship matches, Doncaster have found themselves flirting with the drop-zone and still in search of their first win since January.

Dickov was keen to move on from the ‘unacceptable’ performance from his team in the 5-0 defeat at Bournemouth on Saturday, and will no doubt be buoyed by the return of top marksman Sharp to his squad for the welcoming of Huddersfield Town this weekend.

“We have missed him [Sharp],” admitted Dickov.

“At this level, Billy is a top, top player and we will have him back.”

Also looking to make returns to the squad following injury are midfielder Mark Duffy and defender Paul Quinn.

And Dickov is not afraid to make switches in his starting eleven as he bids to steer his side away from going straight back into League One.

“If changes need to be made then they might well be [against Huddersfield],” he added.

Sharp, who is on loan at Doncaster until the end of the season, received his marching orders at the Amex Stadium during the 1-0 defeat at Brighton following a tangle with Gordon Greer.
