Theo Robinson is determined to bounce back from his worst season to date in style by firing Rovers up the League One standings.

The Jamaica striker does not look back on his first season at Rovers too fondly after injury and lack of opportunities limited his game time.

But Robinson is focused on showing Rovers what he is truly capable of this term.

“Last season was probably my poorest to date,” the 25-year-old said.

“The injury I got at the start of the year didn’t help.

“I was doing well around that time. I started to get back into my form and scored but the injury set me back a while.

“But there was also the loan signings coming in and I had to wait my turn.

“I was trying to get back into the side but it didn’t really happen so I just have to move on and prove myself.

“The more games I play, the fitter and sharper I will get which is when the goals will start coming.

“Hopefully I can get back to doing what I was doing before which was scoring goals.”

Robinson is already one goal closer to besting his total of five from last term after coming off the bench to score in the 3-0 win over Yeovil before starting against York in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday night.

At least doubling his previous tally is one of his major goals for the current campaign.

But the former Huddersfield and Derby man is most keen on forging strong partnerships with new signings Curtis Main and Nathan Tyson to ensure Rovers are among the goals this season.

He said: “For me personally, I would rather the team wins the match.

“It’s a bonus to get a goal but I’d rather have the win.

“Hopefully the three of us will all compliment each other and do what’s best for the team.

“We’re all learning together about each other but I’m sure we’ll compliment each other.

“I keep saying I’m the quickest of all of them and we all have our traits.

“Curtis is strong. Tyson is quick and can win the flick-ons like me.

“We can all mix and match together, trying to get the goals the team needs to do well this year.”
