Doncaster Rovers: Happy Husband waits on contract news

Like everyone else it seems, youngster James Husband is eagerly awaiting news on Rovers’ contract renewals.

The 19-year-old enjoyed a dream first full season at senior level, taking to League One football like a duck to water and making 40 appearances in Doncaster’s title-winning campaign.

But the Leeds-born youngster - one of just seven pros currently under contract for next season - is keen to pay tribute to his teammates who welcomed him into the dressing room with open arms. And he hopes to see plenty of them again next month.

“Every single lad in the dressing room helped me personally, and I’m really grateful to them for that,” said Husband.

“The togetherness is what made us champions. Everyone helped each other out every single day.

“The training place was a great place to be. People knew when to have a laugh and knew when to be serious.

“It was a brilliant season and for it to turn out like it did at Brentford in my first full season was just amazing. I can’t really complain too much can I?”

“It meant so much to everyone,” he added.

“I was a nervous wreck during the game at Griffin Park, just staring at the floor hoping we’d get the right result.

“You just couldn’t write that sort of ending. When I was on the pitch at the end of the game it was hard to take it all in.

“But to see the joy in people’s faces was something really special.”
