Rovers will jet off to Portugal this summer for their pre-season camp.
But sunbathing and parties will not be on the itinerary with Paul Dickov planning another intense few days training for his side.
Dickov took the Rovers squad to Portugal last summer, and put the players through a punishing three-sessions-a-day training schedule.
He is a fierce proponent of intensive fitness sessions in pre-season as he primes the squad for the season.
Rovers also played a behind closed doors game against Portugese second tier side Portimonense and they hope to secure a similar fixture this year.
Rovers announced last week they will welcome Sheffield Wednesday to the Keepmoat for a pre-season friendly on July 27 (2pm).
Rovers will travel to the Horsfall Stadium to meet Bradford Park Avenue of Skrill North on Wednesday, July 9 with a 7.45pm kick off.
And three days later they will head to Sincil Bank to meet Skrill Premier side Lincoln City on July 12 (3pm).
Next season’s fixtures will be released on June 18 with the first round of matches due to take place on August 9.
Defender Luke McCullough has been called up to the Northern Ireland senior squad for the first time.
The 19-year-old will travel with Michael O’Neill’s squad to South America for World Cup warm-up matches with Uruguay and Chile next week.
