Paul Dickov could not hide his delight after snapping up former Premier League defender and Australia international Lucas Neill on a one-month loan deal.
The Watford man, who can play either centre-back or full-back, has penned a deal with Rovers until April 22 and will be available for their derby day clash with Leeds United on Saturday.
Dickov said: “Lucas is a fantastic signing for Doncaster Rovers, he is a top professional and has captained Australia in the World Cup.
“I played with him at Blackburn and I know him very well, he brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of the game, he is a great person both on and off the field.
“Lucas is as fit now as I have ever seen him, which is credit to him and his attitude.
“There were a lot of other Championship clubs interested in signing him, but he wanted to come to Doncaster, I’d like to thank everyone across the board getting the deal over the line.”
The 36-year-old boasts 96 international caps for Australia and captained the Socceroos during the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
Neill has made over 200 appearances in the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers, West Ham United and Everton.
He joined Watford in February on a deal until the end of the season following spells with Sydney FC and J League side Omiya Ardija.
