It has been a long time coming but the start of the 2014 season is finally upon us.

The squad are eager to get going with the new challenge of FAWSL2 and cannot wait for our first league fixture.

Before we start the league fixtures we have the fifth round of the FA Women’s Cup to look forward to this coming weekend.

After a convincing win over Copsewood Coventry in the last round we have been drawn away to Birmingham.

We are under no illusion that this is going to be a very tough test for us, Birmingham will be brimming with confidence after their historic quarter final victory in the Champions League quarter finals against Arsenal.

However, we feel well prepared and have had some close competitive fixtures in the past against Birmingham and with the magic of the FA Cup you never know what might happen!

We will then be looking ahead to our first league fixture away, midweek, against Aston Villa.

Despite beating our opponents in the FA Women’s Cup third round, we know we will have to be on top form to get a result against a young, ambitious and physical Aston Villa team.

Our aim is to kickstart our season with a win and three points on the board and therefore will be giving everything to ensure this is the case.

We have high aspirations this season, we know that there are going to be tough opponents in FAWSL2.

It’s going to be competitive and with promotion and relegation for the first time from the leagues this year, my prediction is it is going to be the most exciting season yet.

We want to be back competing in the top flight as soon as possible.
