Georgia Wattam incredibly saved AND scored a penalty in extra-time to fire Doncaster Belles’ under-16s into the SHGCL Cup final.

The dramatic finish saw Belles book a final spot against Handsworth - but they had to work for it following a narrow 2-1 semi-final victory over opponents Huddersfield Town.

Belles opened the scoring after the interval when a team move including Melissa Waters, Jade Smedley, Libby Challinor and Anya Snow led to Town putting the ball in their own net. Huddersfield struck back with a well-taken equaliser at the near post.

Extra-time ensued which started with a bang for Belles who were awarded a penalty. Wattam coolly slotted home for 2-1.

Doncaster clung onto their slender lead, despite a goalmouth scramble, before Huddersfield had a glorious chance to equalise with a penalty of their own.

However, Huddersfield came up against Wattam in stunning form as she saved the spot-kick to send Belles into the final.
