Not for the first time this season, Doncaster Belles’ under-18s conceded an early goal - but this time managed to fire seven in reply.
Facing Sheffield Wednesday, the Belles found themselves chasing a goal after the Owls dispatched their opener after just seven minutes.
However, Doncaster replied instantly as they soon got on level terms when Amber Huddart played in Lori Hudson who nipped in unopposed and fired past the ‘keeper.
As Sheffield struggled to tot up goals on target, Doncaster proved profligate in front of goal, wasting a succession of good chances.
As the half hour mark struck, the Belles did eventually get back to scoring ways as a goalmouth scramble saw the ball fall to Holly Housley who - with her back to goal - spun and struck a sweet shot from eight yards to beat the opposition goalkeeper.
The goalscorer later turned provider as she found Hudson who dispatched her second of the game for a 3-1 Doncaster lead.
Hudson repaid the compliment after the break when she released Housley and she for the fourth.
Their lead was increased when Sophie Thompson fashioned a goal from nothing as her cross-cum-shot nestled into the net past the despairing ‘keeper.
Amy Booth, who struck the woodwork, later produced a fine assist for Hudson’s hat trick and 6-1.
And a Shelby Bryant ball into the path of ‘Lass of the Grass’ winner Housley led to her hat trick with 13 minutes to spare as Doncaster ran out 7-1 victors.
