THORNE Colliery closed the Central Midlands League season with two wins in four days which saw them crowned team of the month.
Colliery closed the season with nine wins in 12 games, suggesting they will be competitive when the Central Midlands League is regionalised next season.
They certainly showed their character as they came back from a goal down at the break to see off title favourites Yorkshire Main 4-2.
Main took the lead on 22 minutes but Sheppard drew Thorne level three minutes into the second half with a looping effort.
Fell out Thorne in front but Main drew level only for Mason to turn home at the near post on 80 minutes.
Fell put the game beyond doubt four minutes from time after running clear.
Three days later Thorne capped the campaign with a 2-0 win over Whatton United.
Whatton pushed hard but Thorne hit them on the counter attack with Rhodes netting on 15 minutes while Rafferty rounded things off with ten minutes to go.
