Bucky’s Blog: It’s time to shake off our home woes

It wasn’t a great game of football on Tuesday night, but I’d still say in the second half we probably deserved to win.

I didn’t think the offside player was in line for Rovers’ disallowed goal. There was someone in there but I don’t think you can give that as offside. The linesman gave it and he’s at the side, I thought with that one the referee had a better view.

You have to say though, their goal was a good goal.

But I’m disappointed. You hear it said that the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy isn’t a great cup, but we could have got to Wembley. We were only a couple of games away.

I think we cancelled each other out but it looked like only one team was going to win for me, and then Notts County score on the break.

You can tell they’re a Shaun Derry side because they’re organised. Saying that, we didn’t let them in behind much besides their goal. Andy Butler has settled in very well and does exactly what is required.

With the poor form at home I just can’t work it out, we put in a great performance at Oldham who are flying! Dickov must be scratching his head, we’re playing good football away from home.

When we sort out the home form I still think we can make the play-offs, as we’ve got one of the best away records in the country.

Maybe we’re set up to play on the counter attack? A lot of teams seem to play that way now.

We need to dig in and prepare for Saturday, because with due respect to Gillingham it’s one of those we’ve really got to win.

I think Dickov will bring the bigger players back into the starting line-up. We looked better on Tuesday night when James Coppinger and Richie Wellens came on.

I don’t think our players feel a lack of confidence in themselves. They’ve just got to get the monkey off their backs, get a better start to games, get our noses in front and keep the ball.

The FA Cup draw against Bristol City is one of those that you hear people say it’s not a great draw. But for me it’s not a bad draw at all, we’re at home.

I’m quite happy with it. Obviously they’re a good side but if we can get at them and get past them, we could get a big one in the next round.

It was a bit frustrating watching the draw, I thought we were about to draw Manchester United. Let’s hope we can get through and get them in the next round.
