Declan Bacon struck twice for Westwoodside Rangers to chalk off another league win, this time with a 2-1 victory over Harworth Colliery.

The pace of Bacon and power of Owen McCaughey kept the experienced Harworth defence on there toes throughout as both sides looked to break the deadlock.

Eventually the pressure told for Rangers after some slick inter-play and a sublime Kyle Blow pass put top-scorer Bacon in one-on-one to net in the 11th minute.

The rest of the half appeared to be one-way traffic with Westwoodside piling on the pressure.

And their dominance almost paid off once more when Harworth’s thorn in there side Bacon rifled a shot that rattled back off the crossbar.

The second half saw Harworth burst out of the blocks with Colliery beginning to press Rangers back as they searched for a leveller.

That eventually came when another Harworth attack saw the hosts back on level terms.

Again Harworth came straight at Westwoodside from the restart, opening up their defence as they carved out chances, however Dan Kitching was the man to thank for the visitors in goal.

His fine performance seemed to spur Westwoodside on as in the 71st minute Bacon picked up the ball on the left, cut inside on his right foot and unleashed a thunderbolt effort for 2-1.

Harworth never gave up and went close when they struck the bar, however, Westwoodside held on for another valuable three points.
