Armthorpe Welfare won 2-1 at Hemsworth Miners Welfare in the FA Cup extra preliminary round.

The victory boosted the Church Street coffers to the tune of £1,500.

David Buck edged Armthorpe in front on 15 minutes with a near post header from a corner.

It stayed that way until 11 minutes after the break when Buck scored his and Armthorpe’s second with a cool side-footed finish.

Only a good save from the home goalkeeper prevented Armthorpe putting the tie to bed.

However, Hemsworth started to apply some pressure and halved the deficit with eight minutes remaining, Bill Law volleying home after a freekick had been nodded down.

It proved to be no more than a consolation as Armthorpe deservedly set up a home tie against Evo-Stik Northern Premier League side New Mills in the preliminary round on August 29.

Maltby Main earned a replay with an excellent 2-2 draw at North West Counties side Ashton Athletic. Danny Swales and Dean Conway netted for Main.
