Moorends-Thorne Marauders RLFC 76
A SENSATIONAL power display, coupled with pace and skill, saw the Marauders file the first ever win in the newly-named Kevin Parkhouse Memorial Cup.

Doncaster Toll Bar opened the game on the back of a well worked set of six forcing the Marauders t
o drop out from between their posts, the chance for the Marauders to display the tempo in which they are accustomed was not far away, the Marauders sharpness at the play the ball forced back-to-back sets, Mark Roach fired a long cut out pass for Wayne Green to collect and cross in the corner after 4 minutes.

Toll Bar had the possession of the football for the next five minutes when the Marauders were judged to be guilty of losing the ball early in their next three sets; Martin Rowlands found Shane Southgate who threaded a perfect kick into the in-goal area for Steve Mills to pounce on, Dave Ford gave the home side the lead with his conversion.

Moorends regained the lead on 18 minutes after Gaz Everton, Ben Hofmann and Kev Lake were able to gain a quick play of the ball, Chris Allen sliced through the home defence, drawing the full-back he slipped the ball for Greg Mills to cross in the corner.

The Marauders produced a great defensive set to regain possession deep inside Toll Bar's half, excellent angled running from Alex Palmer and Greg Neill gave Mark Roach the room to find Shaun Carver with a flat ball before the big man crashed over.

Even excellent one-on-one defence from Carl Taylor, Tom Brandham and Gav Millward couldn't keep the Marauders at bay, Gaz Everton and Karl Mills made in-roads before Chris Allen displayed what the Marauders had been missing so far this season as he ghosted over after selling a couple of dummies, Ryan Rafferty converted

Further points then came from Ryan Rafferty and Shaun Carver before Steve Mills again came up trumps for the Toll Bar on 39 minutes when he was the first to react to a Shane Southgate grubber kick, Dave Ford converted.

With half-time fast approaching, the Marauders had the last say when Chris Allen again cut through the home defence to win the foot race to the try line, Ryan Rafferty converted to take the score to 12-42 at half-time.

Peter Green's positive half-time talk produced the goods in the first set, excellent forward work by Gaz Munro, Kev Lake and Karl Mills, had the home defence in tatters, quick hands found Wayne Green who's pace was just too much, Ryan Rafferty converted.

Targeting the same channel, Dave Knott broke the line on 45 minutes to race 30-metres before turning the ball back inside to Wayne Green who finished at pace, Ryan Rafferty converted.
