Rothwell 235-6
Thorne Colliery 143-7
THEY say a week is a long time in politics, well it certainly is in cricket!
Last Sunday, Thorne emphatically defeated Rothwell in the cup. On Saturday, the boot was on the other foot as Rothwell hammered Thorne in a league fixture.
The visitors totally dominated with the bat, their opener Danby hitting an excellent 94 and he was only denied a deserved century by a brilliant run out from Thorne captain Ian Lloyd.
For Colliery, Mick Sellars took 2 for 34 while James Stewart, Chris Head and Carl Walton claimed a wicket apiece.
In reply, despite Matthew Cockburn (15), James Glew (13) and Ian Lloyd (14), Thorne collapsed to 64-6. A seventh wicket stand of 78 between Mark Walton (37) and Mick Sellars (36 n.o.) turned the tide to take Colliery to 132 before Sellars and Kevin Langston carried the home side over the 140 mark to claim an extra batting point.
