AFTER an absence of six years, the Doncaster and District Amateur Rugby League are re-introducing the local District Amateur Cup for the 2008/09 season.
The first game is scheduled to be played on Saturday, 2pm kick-off.
The competition will be run on a round-robin basis starting and finishing at the freshly refurbished Doncaster Toll Bar ground with its excellent pitch and clubhouse facilities.
The draw for the round-robin competition was drawn on the October 30 at the Toll Bar Club with the games scheduled to tie in with the dates specified by the Yorkshire Amateur Rugby League for local cup competitions.
Draw - 1st game: Doncaster Toll Bar v Moorends-Thorne Marauders; 2nd game: Bentley Good Companions v Doncaster Toll Bar; 3rd game: Moorends-Thorne Marauders v Bentley Good Companions; 4th game: The final will be played on the fourth date allotted by the Yorkshire League for local cups between the top two teams in the round-robin system.
Because of the new start and format to the competition, the District committee also decided to give the competition a new name and a new cup.
It was decided to name the competition after one of the district's finest Rugby League ambassadors who represented Askern Miners Welfare ARLFC and Doncaster at amateur and professional level - The Kevin Parkhouse Memorial Cup - Doncaster & District Amateur Rugby League.
