FRIENDS united at a Doncaster primary school to win a national book competition with a friendly theme.
Children at Dunscroft's Sheep Dip Lane Primary School after-school club beat off competition from 700 other schools and clubs to impress the judges with their uniquely illustrated 'Friendship book'.

The pupils worked together to each make a page f
or the book about friendship as part of the competition aimed at promoting reading and creativity. Contributions included poems, stories, paintings and collages.

Organisers, childcare charity Schoolfriend etc who run the after-school club, awarded the school over one hundred story and poetry books and gave each winning child a book of short stories.

Michelle Carline, Play leader at Sheep Dip Lane Primary School Schoolfriend Club, said: "The team worked together with fantastic team spirit to create a beautifully illustrated Friendship Book. They are delighted that their hard work has been recognised and the school will benefit greatly from the wonderful selection of books."

Chief Executive of Schoolfriend etc, Amanda Argent, said: "We are thrilled with this unique entry and it was obvious that they spent many hours perfecting the final product which deserved to be recognised in this competition. Congratulations!"

A selection of competition entries are available to view on the photo gallery of the Schoolfriend etc website www.schoolfriendetc.org.
