The mother of Doncaster pop star Louis Tomlinson wrote a tribute to One Direction fans thanking them for changing her son's life before she died.

Johannah Deakin, who passed away last week following a lengthy battle with leukaemia, thanked fans for the support they had shown to her son, 24.

Her widow Dan shared the poignant message online with Louis’ fans through Johannah’s Twitter account.

The tweets read: “Hi, it’s Dan. Johannah asked for me to send this afterwards.

“She wanted to thank you all, and to let you know that you have been amazing right from the start.

“You changed Louis’ life, but also her life. Your support now is as strong if not stronger than ever.

“So from Johannah, one last time, thank you for everything xxx…”

The One Direction star made his first solo performance on Saturday night’s X Factor final as part of his mum’s dying wish.

He later went online to thank his followers for their compassion, posting a picture of himself with DJ Steve Aoki at Wembley Arena following their performance on the show.

He wrote: “Thank you for the incredible support.”

Johannah’s passing was announced in a statement by her family.

It read: “It is with immeasurable sadness that Johannah Deakin’s family said goodbye to Johannah in the early hours of Wednesday 7th December 2016.

“Earlier this year Johannah was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of leukaemia that required immediate and continuous treatment.

“We respectfully request that the family are given time and space to grieve in private.”

As well as Louis she leaves behind six other children, Lottie, 18, Felicite, 16, twins Daisy and Phoebe, both 12, and twins Ernest and Doris, both aged two, who she gave birth to prematurely in 2014.
