A NEW children’s play area has created a splash with youngsters.
Children from Small World Day Nursery joined civic mayor Coun Ken Knight at the official unveiling of the refurbished play area at Hatfield Water Park Outdoor Activity Centre.
The new look park boasts slides, tunnels and climbing frames and is painted in bright, sunny colours. The design fits in with the larger elements on site such as the climbing tower and low ropes course.
An A-frame has also been fitted in the public footpath entrance near the park to allow pushchair access from the adjacent fields and lanes.
The original park was fitted about 15 years ago as an activity area for children aged eight and under who were too young for the main Hatfield activity programme.
The money was secured by developers having to stump up cash for community facilities as part of planning applications which have been approved.
Coun Knight said: “Everyone should be proud of the wonderful work that has taken place to transform the park – it really has taken on a new lease of life and the finished results are a joy to behold.”
