WAR hero Ben Parkinson was one of many special guests who supported an event for Help for Heroes.

The Bessacarr paratrooper, who was one of the most severely injured soldiers following a bomb blast in Afghanistan, was invited to the glitzy black tie fundraising ball in aid of the armed forces charity.

Other guest invites included British Commonwealth boxing champion Hatfield’s Jamie McDonnell, Sgt Ian Bacchus of the famous regiment the Coldstream Guards, former Chelsea footballer Ron ‘Chopper’ Harris and comedian Mickey Pugh.

The event included a five-course meal, live entertainment and a disco.

Funds are still coming in from the event which was held at the plush Crown Hotel in Bawtry’s Market Place.
