VIDEO: Lizards and dog rescued from burning Mexborough building

Investigations are ongoing after lizards and a doberman dog were rescued from a smoke-filled house by firefighters last night.

Crews were called to Chaucer Road, Mexborough, Doncaster, at 11pm (Monday June 15) to reports that the front door of a semi-detached house was alight.

Police were on the scene on Tuesday carrying out an investigation.

There was nobody in the property at the time but when firefighters searched the house they found a number of reptiles and a dog inside.

They rescued all of the animals but left a large snake inside, which was unharmed.

An investigation into the cause of the blaze continues.
