Meanwhile, other business owners who have teamed up with us for the Owt Fer Nowt offer have told how the scheme has been a success.

Phil Toone, who gave away dog chews from his Mexborough market stall, said: “I had about 30 people take up the offer. It is a good campaign, it gets new customers into the business along with existing ones aswell.”

Flower stall owner Bev Taylor added: “Any sort of free promotion is worth doing, especially when businesses and markets are trying to get more trade in at times like this.”

Kyle Roberts, 27, of the Coffee Pot Cafe in Mexborough, said: “This is a great freebie offer for your readers.”
