Turkish delight at Doncaster top restaurant

Successful Turkish restaurant Lalezar has just celebrated its first anniversary since arriving in Doncaster from London in 2014.

Owner of the five-star hygeine rated restaurant in East Laith Gate, Metin Koca and his business partner and highly trained chef of 24 years, Suleyman Koca, invited Doncaster Free press staff to sample the fine food they make.

South Yorkshire Newspapers content editor, Chris Page, said: ““The array of delicious dishes were as appetising as the staff were accommodating and the atmosphere ambient _ Lalezar BBQ & Meze Restaurant was quite simply a Turkish delight,”

Chief reporter, Darren Burke, added: “The food at Lalezar was amazing – the flatbreads were huge and piping hot and it was great to be able to pick at lots of different meats, salads and dips during the course of the evening rather than just being faced with one huge meal.

“Washed down with some great Efes beer, it was just like being on a Mediterranean holiday!”

Reporter, Rochelle Barrand, endorsed Darren’s comments and said: “I am a vegetarian, so I had the vegetable moussaka which was one of the tastiest I have ever had. It was actually much better than one I ate in Greece! The halloumi cheese was also the best I’ve ever had. The staff were really friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful. I’ll definitely be going back there again.”

As for me I agree with everything that was said. The staff are eager to please, no matter if you are one of their regular famous guests such as MPs Rosie Winterton and John Healey, or a top sportsman such as rugby league player, Justin Turgut, or like me Mr Ordinary, you get the same VIP treatment.

Food is prepared to order in the restaurant’s open plan kitchen enabling people to see what they are about to eat as it is cooked.

Metin said the food had to be good as they were competing against many other Turkish restaurants in the town.
