Four children taken to hospital after motorbike collision in Doncaster

Two people – including an 11-year-old boy – have been seriously hurt in a collision involving an off-road motorbike in South Yorkshire.

They were among five people injured in the crash on Elm Road, Auckley.

The rider, a 21-year-old man, was also seriously hurt, while three other children – two boys, aged seven and eight, and a nine-year-old – also needed hospital treatment

South Yorkshire Police said the collision between the motorcycle and the children happened yesterday, at about 6.10pm.

A force spokeswoman said: “Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision on Elm Road in Auckley, Doncaster, that has resulted in an 11-year-old boy and a 21-year-old man sustaining serious injuries.

“Yesterday, at about 6.10pm, there was a collision between an off-road motorcycle and four children, three boys aged 11, eight and seven-years-old and a nine-year-old girl.

“The 21-year-old rider and the 11-year-old boy were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The three other children were also taken to hospital to be treated for injuries.”

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or the rider prior to the collision, is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 738 of Friday, March 20, 2015.
