DONCASTER borough has seen the largest reduction nationally of those claiming dole, says an independent think tank.
The borough is “bouncing back” from recession after it suffered big job losses during the downturn, revealed the Centre for Cities in its 2011 outlook.
Doncaster along with Hull and Northampton recorded a 1.2 per cent drop in the number of people claiming Jobseekers’ Allowance between March and November last year. After six months the benfit ends irrespective of whether a claimant has a job.
Mr Davies said: “The Cities Outlook 2011 confirms what we all know - that there is a buzz around Doncaster’s economy.”
