BUSINESSES have teamed up with Doncaster Council to clean up a shopping area and combat anti-social behaviour.
Staff from shops in Bowers Fold have complained to the council about revellers from the pubs and clubs around Silver Street leaving broken bottles strewn all over, drinking in the streets and causing a nuisance.
Council staff are now holding a clean up programme which will include painting and cleansing the area.
Shop bosses are also coming together to hold a family fashion show in a bid to attract more business into Bowers Fold.
Kim Paterson, manager of Age UK based in Bowers Fold, said: “We wanted something to be done because we get people from the nightclubs leaving bottles and glass all over the floor and other things, it’s really unsafe and we have to clean it.
“We want to make Bowers Fold an area Doncaster can be proud of and where people can enjoy shopping.”
Mayor Peter Davies said: “We’re continuing to make progress with nuisance behaviour around Bowers Fold and near Doncaster Markets.
“Bowers Fold is a busy shopping area and an important link between our award-winning markets and Silver Street.”
People are invited to the ‘Back to the Fold into the Future’ fashion and family entertainment event in the area, which will be compared by town crier Henry Cryer on December 3, from 1pm to 4pm.
